Homeschool Track and Field Day 2024

Q & A

  1. How long does the track meet last? Please plan for the whole day. In prior years, we typically have finished in the late afternoon.
  2. Will there be food or can we bring our own? A concession stand will be available. You are also welcome to bring your own food as well. Coolers, small canopies and blankets are allowed.
  3. Can Grandparents or other relatives come? Yes, we encourage relatives to come watch!
  4. Will there be a rain date? Unfortunately, we are not able to have a rain date. In the event of rain or cool weather, the track meet will continue. Check the website for any last minute updates.
  5. Does my child have to do participate in all events? No, your child can pick and choose what events are best for them. The registration fee is the same regardless of the number of events.
  6. Can my child add or delete an event on the day of the meet? Yes, just have them let the group leader know.
  7. Can my child participate if they are not homeschooled? Only students that are homeschooled will be allowed to participate.
  8. I have young children, can I still come? Yes, younger siblings are welcome to attend, however, you are responsible for them. Please keep a close eye on young children as there is a lot going on throughout the day.
  9. Does my child need track experience? No experience is required. All students are encouraged to try any event.

Tips for a Successful Day

  1. Practice the events with your child (even if only in your backyard). Help them understand the event and what is expected.
  2. Talk with your child about doing their best and trying new things.
  3. Inform your child they will stay with their "group" during the events. Group Leaders will "shepherd" the kids from event to event. If you are not volunteering, you are welcome to go with the group as well!
  4. Bring and APPLY sunscreen the day of the event! Sunburns are NOT fun!
  5. Bring water bottles for each child and yourself! The day can get long and you should stay hydrated.
  6. Small snacks are better than a large meal the day of the event.
  7. Have your child stretch and warm up the day of the event.
  8. Talk with your child about placement, if appropriate. If they are highly competitive, it is good to understand that even if they win their heat (one race), they may not win the whole race. A race is made up of several heats and the best time wins, so it is important they run as hard as they can during their heat.
  9. Encourage and Praise your child!
  10. Remember this is a FUN day!
